Changing your cPanel VPS hostname is easy and can be done at anytime. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions below, and you will be able to get your cPanel VPS hostname changed quickly. Please note, that once you change your cPanel VPS hostname, that you may need to update your cPanel license update.
How to change your hostname:
- Login to your WHM (Web Host Manager) on your cPanel VPS
- Scroll down to "Networking Setup"
- Click on "Hostname"
- Input the new hostname at the bottom of the page and click "Change"
- Your hostname has now been changed on your cPanel VPS.
How to synchronize your cPanel key:
On some occasions, once you change the hostname of your cPanel VPS, you’ll need to resynchronize the key with the cPanel licensing server. To do this, please follow the step-by-step directions outlined below.
- Login to your cPanel VPS via SSH
- Run the following command within SSH:
# /usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt
- You should now be able to login to your cPanel VPS via WHM
