By default, when activating a cPanel VPS, we ensure that the firewall is disabled. This is done for a verity of reasons, one of which is; convenience. However, we always recommend to all our hosting customers that they enable the firewalls on their cPanel VPS hosting accounts. To enable the firewall on your cPanel VPS, we recommend you follow the below step-by-step guide:

Enabling the Firewall:

  • Login to your WHM (Web Host Manager) within your cPanel VPS
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the menu (on the left hand side)
  • Click on "ConfigServer Security&Firewall"
  • Click on "Firewall Start" (this will start the firewall on your VPS)

Disabling the Firewall:

  • Login to your WHM (Web Host Manager) within your cPanel VPS
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the menu (on the left hand side)
  • Click on "ConfigServer Security&Firewall"
  • Click on "Firewall Disable" (this will stop and disable the firewall)
  • The above are the two fastest ways to enable / disable the firewall on your VPS hosting account.
