When it comes installing FrontPage extensions, the process is generally pretty streamlined. That is, until you happen to hit a snag. The snag that you generally run into is one that is easily fixed, but you can see the error message it creates:
Attempting to install FrontPage extensions… /home/user/public_html/adon-domain.com does not exist or is not a directory.
The aforementioned error means that FrontPage can’t locate the folder into which the FrontPage extensions must be installed. To resolve this error, please ensure that this appropriate folder exists and re-try to install the FrontPage extensions again.
How do I create the folders within my account?
The process for creating folders within your web hosting account is pretty easy, and can be done in a couple of different ways. However, we strongly recommend using the recommended method below:
- Login to your cPanel web hosting account via FTP
- Check weather your /public_html/ directory exists? If not, create it
- Change the permissions to the "/public_html/" directory to 751
- Navigate into your/public_html/ directory
The above-mentioned process is the same for creating an "addon-domain.com" folders, should you be missing an addon domain folder rather than the /public_html/ folder. If you are unsure, please follow the step-by-step process outlined below for your convenience:
- Login to your cPanel web hosting account via FTP
- Navigate into your/public_html/ directory
- Create your new "addon-domain" folder within the /public_html/ directory
