There are different error messages that can be displayed within Plesk based upon the issue that is happening. In this case, if you upload an incorrect key, such as a key designed for another version of Plesk, or perhaps for a different type of virtualization, you’ll get an error message similar to the one below:

The license key is invalid. In order to use the Panel, please obtain and install a new valid license key. Your license key has expired. To continue using your Panel, you must purchase a non-expiring commercial license key.

To resolve the above-mentioned message, you will need to confirm a few things about your Plesk license, such as the ones outlined below:

  • Ensure that you’ve obtain the key for the right version of Plesk
  • [VPS Only] Confirm the virtualization type your using such as; Xen, KVM, etc.
  • Check the key is for the right operating system Windows vs. Linux

Doing the above-mentioned steps will ensure that your issue can be quickly resolved ensuring you may continue without delays.
